@obrhoff oh I can’t wait for the Apple shoe to drop. Everyone reacting to the other FAANGs coming out as nazis but there is one more A to be revealed.

@konstantin Something tells me you won't get the “Black Unity™” Apple Watch band that celebrates Pan African culture from Apple©?
tbf he is the CEO. If he does not do what is in the interests of the shareholder, they gonna replace him with someone who will.

@obrhoff I’m not even thinking about the watch bands. The entirety of Apple has been waging some kind of eurosceptic campaign for more than two years now, this is not about the actions of some figurehead CEO. Part of the torment nexus runs on every iPhone out there.

@konstantin @obrhoff Eurosceptic or regulation-sceptic?

@simeon @obrhoff Let's see: Apple geoblocking individual member states from access to different products and services, spotty or missing regional support, channelling their PR arm with politically charged posts in the eve of the European Parliament elections... reads eurosceptic to me.
Edit: forgot to add the malicious implementation of every privacy or competition directive...

@konstantin @obrhoff I’m just wary calling it eurosceptic because Apple would do the same to every other entity as they try to dodge regulation in general. I’m worried that it makes Euro-anything sound like a boogeyman, and plays into the populist narrative that all things EU are bad. To me, the EU is getting flak because they are the only ones (able to) doing anything at all at the moment.

@simeon @konstantin Are they doing the same in China? Would be honestly very surprising to me.

@simeon @obrhoff Perhaps you're right. The reason I mentioned regional support is to also highlight that they've never supported the single market (long before regulation was even on the table). So be it ignorance or desire to do whatever they want, the end result is this huge corporation from which there is no escape and their overall influence has obvious negative effect.
