Besides the official releases, there is a hardened fork for Android, called Molly. And for desktops, laptops, there is the Rust based, TUI powered gurk-rs.

The big feature of Molly is the database encryption. They have removed obsolete code from Signal, the FOSS variant is completely free of closed source binblobs. And both variants have an optimized WebSockets implementation. Less battery drain than Signal over WS.

And if you wish so, could even further optimize it with UnifiedPush (mollysocket).

Molly is made by the GrapheneOS community (not GOS itself).
