For some reason, I didn't set up a Section 31 filter. Possibly because it would have just been variations on Section 31, Georgiou, and Michelle Yeoh because I've done my best to avoid every bit of reportage I can on the thing.

I've not seen real spoilers on Mastodon but there are a lot of people with strongly negative opinions about it. Might have to hold off on watching it until I've successfully forgotten the tenor.

(I'm interested that they're playing with the Star Trek format. I'll happily watch Michelle Yeoh in just about anything. I have my doubts about the concept of a Section 31 movie. I don't need a bunch of other people's negative vibes going into it because I already brought my own. I'd like to give this a fair shake.)

@EveHasWords I haven't seen it either. (it's on this Saturday night steak & stark trek/sci fi "date" we have each week)

I'm wondering if what we're reading aren't people who have specific beliefs about what trek "is" and don't like experimentation. Like spouse did not like the Kelvin timeline movies, and I was like "okay, not ST:OS exactly but pretty...." since he's more of an adherent to canon in anything (LoTR, etc.) person.

@KitAuthor You might be right on that. I'm pretty open to the possibilities and I have a loose approach to canon. I'm pretty mixed on the Kelvin movies as a whole ... but Star Trek Beyond is one of my favorite Star Trek movies ever made. :blobcatflop:

Since I'm avoiding spoilers, I haven't read the hot takes. :blobcatheadphones:

I watched it this morning. I'm a big Michelle Yeoh fan, plus Kacey Rohl from the Magicians is on it. 😄 Anyway, it wasn't the best Star Trek movie I've seen but still a fun watch.
