Why on earth would you give an NPC address on that day before a long weekend?
I think @sister_ratched was the only one I follow who watched and only because she was overruled lol
Kind of sums up the mess Labor is in at present imo
We desperately need a new kind of government after the election, I really hope Albanese doesn't mess that up by losing too many seats

So here's a summary of what he spoke about at the NPC from the Guardian and my thoughts
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/jan/24/lessons-learned-medicare-and-attack-lines-nine-key-takeaways-from-albaneses-first-major-speech-in-2025
1 - apprentice and school funding, good to see
2 - biggest lesson, yeah world events have been a factor and will become a bigger one next term imo. Although hopefully not as big as Covid was in the previous one
3 - biggest achievement, keeping us out of recession? Yeah that's a good thing although the definition did a lot of heavy lifting
4 - campaign lines, I'm not sure Mediscare 2.0 is the way to go. It's been a long time since Dutton was a dud Health Minister. Focus on what they are actually promising i.e. cuts to services, employment conditions and ending the renewables rollout
5 - calling Dutton "weak" for not fronting the media could work although I wouldn't be using the term if I was Albo, he owns the label on many fronts. I hope he shakes it
6 - no referendums, gutless but understandable

7 - no coalition with the Greens, I'm ok with that but the reality is they'll almost certainly be in minority and are going to have to work with the crossbench. I expect the Greens to play a major role in the Senate. My preference is for it all to occur under another PM, not Dutton of course. A Teal? That would be interesting. Most likely Labor though
8 - probably good advice for Dutton to chill over Australia Day. Nothing is going to change, unfortunately. Dutton loves his culture wars, if I was Labor I'd be pointing out fighting them does nothing to help address cost of living
9 - Paris Agreement, smart to stay in. It would be ridiculous not to. Hopefully Trump is just a bump on the road. Good to see others in the US stepping up e.g. Bloomberg to guarantee the funding from there
Overall, it's going to be a fascinating election and election year
