[#]Mastodon doesn’t have the best search functionality, but it at least sort of works. Searching posts in #bluesky has been broken for the past week. Just throwing back network errors. And the search in #threads is hot garbage. Considering the vast difference in resources between the platforms, and the fact that Mastodon is searching across the entire fediverse is pretty wild. This definitely seems like the best platform to be on for librarians and other academics.

Check out the power of combining terms. For instance videos attached to posts that include the word 'music' published before April 24, 2024:
