Here's one thing I can do as a scientist. All of the data/publications that www.pacinst.org generates on #climate, #water, #science & #publicpolicy, will forever be available free. As will everything on my personal site, www.gleick.com. If there are peer-reviewed publications of mine behind a paywall, simply email me. I'll send it to you free.

@petergleick
I've been following your work since my early days of PhD work when I started working on the impact of algal toxins on #Desalination. I'm now a faculty member at a CA #CommunityCollege and therefore don't have access to many journals. The more scientists publish #OpenAccess the more I have available to share with my students who I am trying to inspire in their STEM career pursuits! 🥳🥳🥳

@eseubert It's not just Open Access. Every author has the right to send personal copies of their papers to whoever they want. Tell all your students that.

Oh I tell them all the time, I remind them that the author's are people too and will love that someone is interested in their work! But Open Access is essential for those entry papers I assign to the whole class to break that barrier of reading scientific articles.

Perhaps you could spearhead a program to span across the types of records the administration is unexplainably blocking, and making them available through some public domain. You have conviction, insight, stamina, probably some connections.
Maybe you could give it some thought.

@petergleick hey let’s expand let’s get all US scientists to provide a copy of their work. We’ll publish it in Canada and tell the US companies to go to hell as we don’t recognize their rights here due to the tariff war.
