So, I should be leaving right now for an open public meeting being held by a city official 15 minutes from my house. It's been snowing lightly for a half hour, will continue for another hour and a half but it'll only be around 1 inch accumulation. I don't HAVE to go to this meeting, but I SHOULD go to ensure an organization I represent is seen there - I've no idea if anyone else from the organization is going (the organization is all volunteer, no paid staff).
However, I have acknowledged for over a year now that my night vision is poor, especially on snow covered (even lightly) and wet roads without streetlights. Of more concern is the fact that there will be a thin cover of snow over everything in the parking lot, including patches of ice from thaw/refreeze of prior snow. So, I'm feeling guilty, but I'm gonna go put comfy sweatpants on and curl up on the couch with a book.
Sigh. I can still remember driving for 4 hours in a blizzard in the dark to present a worker health and safety workshop in a factory. 40 years ago. Perhaps the accumulated years since have impacted my personal risk/reward analysis.

@ninapaley Hope your furnace is operating properly now. My sump pump problem indeed is not a problem with the pump, the discharge line is frozen. Life in the midwest USA.

@Notgonnastop My furnace is working for now. The tech installed temporary parts while waiting on a "real" part he will install next week. The bill is expected to be huge, I still don't know how much yet. But my heat is on!
