I also strongly suspect that IF waiting list times are shorter it's because you can't get on them

@ArrestJK Same strategy per public transport. 1. Remove public transport. 2. Note that nobody takes public transport. 3. No more money wasted on public transport.

  1. Make it impossible to get on a waiting list. 2. Note that there are fewer people on the waiting list. 3. No more money wasted on public health.

@ArrestJK

That is definitely happening.

My doctor referred me to gastroenterology in September. He has known me for over 20 yrs and knew my condition had changed and needed investigating, supported by abnormal blood tests, but it was refused. A week before Christmas, I was admitted with an emergency that could have been avoided if I had been seen earlier.

@Yjeva Yeah I 100% know it is happening (and what happened under Key as well) just no stats for that sort of thing so an add on note.

@ArrestJK reckon Winston will carry on the farce past April?

@depereo Well here's a possible scenario:

Winston releases his Cook Strait ferry rail enabled option.

National say no way costs too much.

Winston claims that because New Zealand needs and deserves a proper transport system and Cook Strait is a major part of that he can no longer support this coalition (oh and I don't want to make Seymour DPM)

This becomes more likely the higher in the polls NZ1st is.

@ArrestJK If they're down it'd be an attention grabber, too.

I won't cross my fingers too hard but that's something to look forward to :)

@depereo yeah if tanking Winston could think this is only way to get a boost best use it. Just if Winston thinks he'd have a stronger position he's more likely.

@ArrestJK people would feel happier with proper ferries. SI exports and imports via boats are critical, there's recent pain on the pocket from ferries falling apart, and it feels like a roulette to ride in even good weather.

I think it'd be a bloody good campaign fight and Winston could do very well out of it with his typical condescending tone to the 'children' he was in coalition with but who ultimately did not retain his confidence.

@depereo Not JUST voting public but ALSO BUSINESS want rail enabled (their costs skyrocket without it)

It's like Nats custom designed an issue for Winston to run on 🤔

@ArrestJK @depereo I'm sure total incompetence is a perfectly adequate explanation, but Winston is certainly experienced enough to know how to take advantage of an opportunity when it arises.
