Just saw a Math question:

Buy Cow for $800

Sell for $1,000

Buy same cow for $1,100

Sell for $1,300

How much was earnt?

This is badly worded because you EARNT (Accounting) $2,300 ($1,000 + $1,300 sale prices)

I suspect they want the answer to how much PROFIT was made? (earnings less expenses)

that'd be the $2,300 Earning - $1,900 expenses (cost to buy $800 + $1,100)

which equals $400 profit (before taxes)
