The start of the conversation with @amyvdh was around some language quirks I noticed:

• “I’m happy to...” is almost always a lie

• “I’m ok to...” seems to express reluctance!

• “I’m willing to...” seems to express sacrifice

@koalie @amyvdh I've had that miscommunication in W3C conversations, especially with people from multiple different countries of origin, where I would say "I'm happy to" meaning "I don't want to but I'm willing to" and others got confused about why I was so enthusiastic to accept something.

@npdoty @amyvdh another language quirk I noticed was “you will be missed” (when a {Chair|AC rep|colleague} leaves).

I thought it was the most impersonal and noncommittal way to express a sentiment, where “I will miss you” is so much stronger and meaningful, but apparently “you will be missed” is the appropriate form 🤷‍♀️

When I start typing with "I'm happy to," the next word autocomplete suggests for me is "but".

English: it is as if it made sense.
