Back in the day in my previous line of work I had to constantly do presentations, lead meetings etc. I got used to it and was always in full auto-pilot mode, no nerves or anything, even with important talks for large crowds.
In my current job of 8 years and counting, I rarely need to do that. Hence losing last night's sleep and being a nervous wreck this morning, all for a well-prepared, totally informal talk for my own team about a topic in which I'm the topmost expert here.
