It often fascinates me how most of our labs are still in their original state, as they were when the building was constructed in the 1980s. The predecessors of my current group were the first occupants. The lights, fittings, and fixtures are all from a time when Germany was still divided. The cryostat, the pumps, the Geiger counters on the shelf there, you really couldn't tell in which year I took this photo just by looking at the equipment on display (and still in regular use).

@StripeyYena It's the old glassware on the shelves that I noticed that fits in with the not being able to tell when the picture was taken.

@penguin42 Yeah those are for long-term sample storage, or as I usually call it, sample trashcans, as we rarely ever re-use something once it's in those (but we usually never throw samples away, because you never know).
