Was given this helpful #artbiz advice years ago, and want to pass it on: Your email list should be your primary #marketing tool. Do not rely on any 3rd party platform (including this one) to connect you with people who are interested in your work.
Growing my email list is what gave me the freedom to move away from IG. Email subscribers are 100x more engaged than social media scrollers. They don't mind reading paragraphs and are way more likely to make a purchase. Think #qualitynotquantity

@potterybyosa Brilliant! If we’re seeing anything lately, it’s how fragile these platforms can be. But email is brilliant bc it’s under your own control. Thanks so much, I’m definitely going to use this strategy for my own small business. Do you have any suggestions on how to get your email out to people that haven’t yet become customers?

@erin_rein 3rd party platforms (IG, Etsy, Pixelfed, etc) are great for acquiring new collectors. Offer specific content to potential email subscribers to migrate them from a social platform to your list. I tend to announce drop dates + sale previews via email only. I also include additional longer-form writing + process/BTS photos.
If you do an in-person event, make sure to collect emails from anyone who stops by your table or booth.
Make email sign up obvious on your website and use SEO.
