Toot

This is a neat #3dprinting idea: model 1.8mm channels into the side of something and then slide different color filament in as decoration. Right up there with using filament as a hinge pin.

@zrail nice, you could even pause and continue printing to seal it in

@zrail hinge pins & small hinges/joint pieces overall is the main item category I look forward to using 3D printing for, in regards to joint braces.

Overall 3D printers working best at making things 1/4th to 6 square inches in size.

@zrail i prefer crafting things from renewable materials

just when we're realising the ramifications of producing everything from plastic over a century we produce consumer equipment that empowers folks to sling untold unnecessary tonnage of plastic into the world

the number of assholes printing up headphone stands of various celebrities thinking they can turn a bit of profit is sickening

i realise a box's a diff thing and i'm yucking on your yum, scroll by and ignore my bleating

Do not know!

I just found some people in the fediverse that doing cool repair works. 3d printing can help a lot...

@oscarjiminy @rapha3l @zrail

None.

PLA is made from corn-starch, and it can be biodegradable, but only in Industrial composters with temps above 400°C.

So in theory possible, but mostly greenwashing and marketing-"lies".

And i say that as someone that really likes his 3d-printer.
