Toot

Written by Justine Smithies on 2025-01-21 at 21:50

I'm following about 7 hashtags using the new #snac hashtags follow setup. My relay has registered and I see content in the relay but on this user justine I haven't yet noticed any posts with the hashtags that I'm following appear in my feed only ones that mutuals have boosted or commented on.

I'll give it a day and see if this changes over time. 🤔

@justine@snac.smithies.me.uk Similarly I'm also testing relay setup with about a dozen hashtags that I had previously been following on fosstodon.org.

Hi, Justine. Yes, it seems that some posts with followed hashtags are somehow slipping through the cracks. I'm still looking at it.

You just need to do as follows here if you're using latest from the git repos.

https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2/src/commit/e34febac8cf1e91d95c24fc7d0e509cfd83ffc24/doc/snac.8#L587

Then just in your normal user add hashtags to follow ,one per line.

If your server is running the latest from the #snac repo then you should see this menu at the top of your instance admin page.

It is, but weirdly I don't see such section. HTML header shows 2.66 and I just ran git pull, snac upgrade and restarted the service. Maybe I missed something?

You did

service snac stop

make

make install

service snac start

That's how I update #snac but your system maybe slightly different ???

@justine@snac.smithies.me.uk Simplified, my update procedure is:

git pull upstream master

make -O3

cp snac /usr/bin/

systemctl restart snac2

(Building is actually done on one box; deployment on another.)
