I get your viewpoint, but here is why I disagree:

 If everyone is talking about the same upsetting thing, at some point, people are going to get tired of that topic. To make an analogy, one mosquito in your room would not bother you that much, but if there's a hundred of them, you're bound to be pissed off. 

 While I partially agree with the idea that people should set up their own filters should they not want to see political content,  the filters work much better when people use content warnings in conjunction with the filters. It's kind of like how if everyone uses a mask, less virus particles spread and everyone is safer.

My final point would be that realistically, it'll only take maybe three seconds to add a content warning compared to minutes or so to create a filter.

I'll respect your choice to not add political CW's, though the fediverse will be a much more positive place when you choose to do so.
