De mentale hoepels waar media door springen om te doen alsof musk niet stond te siegheilen zijn indrukwekkend. 'onhandige beweging' me reet. Een van de machtigste mensen, doordrongen van internetcultuur, met zijn wortels in de zuidafrikaanse apartheid, steekt niet per ongeluk zijn rechterklauw gestrekt schuin omhoog.

Het kan hooguit als sarcastische ironie bedoeld zijn, zo van 'als jullie me een nazi noemen kun je het krijgen', maar het is overduidelijk een hitlergroet. Van de rijkste klootzak ter wereld op een van de machtigste plekken die er zijn.

@colapunk @Nickiquote There’s a large number of posts on Instagram and Threads insisting “it’s a ROMAN salute“ and “look at all these [still] photos of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris doing the same thing” and a video of Kamala Harris extending her arm as she’s speaking. I even saw one “I have an Israeli friend and she says it’s not a Nazi salute”.

@jdeisenberg @Nickiquote the romans famously did no such thing. It was invented for theatre, i think in shakespearian times. A fact hitler didn't know when he stylised himself after the roman emperors.

@colapunk @Nickiquote these "center" people are just Nazis who didn't come out of the closet yet. Apparently they are still uncomfortable with sharing their chosen pronoun, but they'll get over it sooner or later and people will exclaim "I did Nazi that coming..."
