just learned that you can install Visual Studio build tools without any module (which is also the default for some fucking reason)

cmake kept complaining it didn't have VS installed while it was clearly there... well duh it's just the empty shell and you have to go into the installer program and actually say that you want the C++ compiler. stupid software for stupid people
