I was reminded yesterday that one of the more surreal moments of Lockdown in 2020 was watching this effectively from the bottom of the garden - HMS Audacious leaving Barrow shipyard

It must shelve quite steeply off the beach else run aground, surely?! (Not that it’d have been the first time an Astute SSN had done so…)

@OccasionalDucks yep, there's a dredged deep water channel just there, plus the beach accretes right up to it. At low spring tides you can walk right out to the channel maker!

Being able to walk out to the marker is quite cool.

I guess the tug on each side would hopefully bump first and help to spare the actual man o’war embarrassment as well.
