Can anyone recommend a website which actually explains how to use this platform? I’m not sure if my posts and replies are being seen or not. I had started an account several months ago, under a different name; but I guess that account was closed due to inactivity.

But Quickly:

Home = Home

Notifications = Notifications (then you can choose all, mentions, etc...)

Follow Requests are only if you choose to limit Follows

Explore = Posts by people you or other people in your instance follow (a good way to find new people)

Live Feeds = all posts in your instance

@private Mentions = not really that privet

Bookmarks & faves are what they seem

@BrendaAnna Instances are like homeroom, it's where you start. Following people in other instances is like making friends in other classes. You're in the biggest homeroom & it's kind of a mess. If you like you can switch to a smaller instance, a lot of people prefer it because they're. Depending on your interests you can switch to a general one, like mine, or chose one on a topic you like, kinda like choosing an elective class. But it will mostly only effect what you see in Explore &Live Feeds

@BrendaAnna Another way to find people is to use the search bar to search hashtags people have put on posts. Also, using hashtags on your own posts makes it easier for other people to find you.

@BrendaAnna If you're able to, people really appreciate it if you put in AltText with your images (the little picture icon on the lower left corner of the text box). They don't have to be fancy, just say what the picture is about.

@BrendaAnna Some people put things behind content warnings (the triangle with the exclamation mark in it in the middle of the text box). Some people use it a lot. Most people don't use it at all. Use it as you feel like.

@BrendaAnna There's a lot of really nice, helpful people on here. There's also a vocal minority I like to call the Homeowners Association who like to tell other people what and how to post.

At the bottom of every post are 3 dots (...) click that then click block if they bother you.
