So one of Trump's first actions was to pardon everyone who tried to violently overthrow the United States government four years ago.
Think about that, journalists, as you continue to normalize a regime that plans to wipe out what you do (if you do it with integrity, that is).

All those "pardonees" are prime candidates for the personal Chump army that will do his vengeful bidding without question...
Just like Putin's personal army.
Why would he not pardon/release them all??

@dangillmor The scary thing is that many of these violent criminals he released will take this as meaning they can go right back out and commit violent crimes and suffer no consequences. I fear for Elmer Stuart Rhodes' son that turned him in, and anyone who ever wronged Enrique Tarrio.
These people have no qualms about committing murder, and now they think they have a license to do so at will.

@gogojack @dangillmor hate crimes started to climb already after election day and of course releasing more of the hard core criminals won't make things better and then this commission to hunt down people who they think "has persecuted" maga's.

Oh, but the average journalist has long ceased to include integrity as part of their job description.
Not having integrity (in the right way) seems to be a requirement nowadays in the corporate world. Or why do you think the office supplies are locked down in offices?

I keep seeing these comments about how horrific Trump is and will be that igmore the absolutely empty and disdainfull Dem establishment alternative offerred was. Still, they claim too much surface populism was their problem. Wrong messaging didn't convince the tens of millions on the economic edge how good their lives were. Not enough Cheneys. Not enough genocide.

@dangillmor@mastodon.social So pardoning your family and allies at the last second is okay, but doing it upfront is evil?

@tyil @dangillmor Look, fuck Genocide Joe any day of the week, yes, but thereβs a bloody galaxy and a half of difference between pardoning innocent people you think a fascist is about to persecute and pardoning people who attempted to overthrow a democratically-elected government.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al @dangillmor@mastodon.social Both seem to boil down to "pardoning for personal reasons" to me. You can't be in favour of it when it suits you then be upset when it doesn't suit you, unless you want to look like some sort of hypocrite. Be real, be honest, and reject bad faith actions regardless of whether the actor is in your camp or not.

@Tenor2JT@mastodon.social @aral@mastodon.ar.al If you cannot see a comment you disagree with as anything but bad faith, you really need to reconsider your life choices. Reasonable, good hearted people don't just assume bad faith because they don't like the message.
