@bryanhansel Is that -42 the actual temperature, or the windchill?
(either way that's frickin' cold)
(kinda like here, where it was -31°C (-24°F) before the wind got factored in this morning)

@pjohanneson actual temp near Isabella Lake as recorded by NOAA. It was -22°F actual at my place near Lake Superior.

@bryanhansel I accept these temperatures, but I can't say I like them. I'm OK down to about -20°C.

@bryanhansel it was 27? I don't play hockey outside unless it's less than 20. I would have been sweating standing there. Rich people are so soft.

@bryanhansel
About -41ºC. Mercury freezes at -39ºC so that's the thermometer goosed.
(I once had the considerable pleasure of freezing mercury - the solid metal is very beautiful.)

@Fasgadh that data comes directly from NOAA.

@bryanhansel
I know, and is perfectly plausible for Minnesota. It's always interesting when a temperature falls below the freezing point of mercury. Especially if (and not in this case) someone says "the mercury hit -x"
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from Fasgadh@mastodon.scot
@Fasgadh they are probably using some other type of analog liquid or a digital thermometer.
