I can't help thinking he's naive to think pardoning the people close to him will protect them.

If they haven't actually been doing crimes all this time (and maybe they have, I don't know, but assuming they haven't) then it should make no difference.

It only protects them from malicious trumped-up charges for things they didn't do before the pardon. But the thing about malicious trumped-up charges is they can be for things you didn't do after a pardon too.

@mekkaokereke my mind was fully boggled when I heard of pre-emptive pardons WTF is glad. Happy that Fauci and others got them even if I’m unsure how useful they’ll really be, like if they decide to remove his federal protection.
