I just watched this video on game industry abuse and it's far worse than I thought. The industry has been terrible for a long time - I've lived it myself - but this is just beyond.

I would still recommend a watch if you have the spoons because it's unfortunately not an isolated thing. Many companies use isolation and cult-like tactics to abuse the employees.

Maybe you need to hear it. Maybe you know someone else who does.

@dona For a freelancer, I'd like to give Frogwares a boost as being an excellent employer, friendly, fair, and generous. No complaints with their treatment of me, over 14 years of working with them. 👍

Although I feel the need to point out that one of the first things I learned in the industry is that (individual) freelancers are treated much better than the regular employees. Night and day. My experiences left me pretty scarred if you can't tell lol.

@dona Ok that's interesting, thanks for pointing that out. I did notice (in the past) a high turnover of Frogwares staff in Localisation. I hope it wasn't due to anything bad. I'm on the outside, being freelance, I don't get the gossip. 😅

@OnionBudgie Yep. Business as usual, though of course I cannot comment on the company itself because I don't know much either.

I hope this doesn't come off sounding weird, but you are in a very rare position where you have a unique talent that isn't 'replaceable'. And being remote is very, very different. Just generally speaking, as I've done my old job in both full-time in-studio and remote/freelance capacity.

The office gossip is an unexpected perk (and a source of trouble) looool
