I am very far from a AI/LLM hater. I am amazed by the technology, I never thought I would see the day.
But the business practices of the companies making it are amazing, too. But in a bad way.

"AI" is the new crypto. There are a few niche areas in which both backpropagation algorithms ("LLMs") and blockchain algorithms will be genuinely useful long term. But in both the AI and crypto bubbles, the business is a shell game, and the amazing technology is all parlour tricks.

@strypey It is hard to enumerate the ways in which you are wrong. But you have completely missed the point
LLMs are the most disruptive technology since the microprocessor.
Are they intelligent? No body knows what intelligence is, but they tick every box that everybody set fro AI over the last seven decades.

@worik we see this crawler behaviour heaps, readthedocs wrote details up last year https://about.readthedocs.com/blog/2024/07/ai-crawlers-abuse/
I am surprised anyone expects robots.txt would be respected tbh. That's not how extractivists work.
They will pound the earth into dust to grind out every piece of glittering goodness. They don't care about consent or sustainability.
