I was opposed to the whole “TikTok ban” situation. But ByteDance may have proven Congress’s point.

Biden noted he would not enforce the ban and allow the next administration figure it out. ByteDance still turned off their services to Americans, blaming the Biden admin.

And then they turned it back on, thanking Trump.

The congressional mandated ban was already in flux. The shutdown was self-imposed. This was all planned.

Maybe congress actually did have a point.

@bedast No, they really didn't.

If you want a real conspiracy theory around ByteDance, look at a few things:

  1. How much of a bite TikTok was taking out of Meta's product base. (Nobody is a customer of corporate social media. They're the product.)

  1. How many congresscritters have substantial stock in Meta. (It's bipartisan too!)

  1. How many congresscritters bought (more) stock in Meta shortly before the vote to ban the foreign upstart.

Once you see that you can't unsee it.
