tried to order a bike trainer from saris for my bike friday diamond llama that was supposed to have an adapter to make it compatible

except that a month later, they still hadn't shipped my order 🙃

so I had them cancel it and am now looking at alternatives

if you have guesses for trainers that would fit a 20" wheeled bike hmu! 🤙

I love that everything about me getting on a bike is a yak shave 😂

tl;dr there isn't an off-the-shelf trainer that does this and also is made for someone my size

but my PT makes semi-custom steel bike training stands, manufactured by the same people who make onyx hubs? I'm reeling

anyway I ordered one, but it doesn't come with a resistance module, so I'm now haggling on facebook marketplace with some guy in vancouver, WA to see if he'll deliver the specific one I want across the river🤣

well they don't MAKE this specific resistance module anymore so you have to buy them second-hand

there are different versions of the kinetic module and the one I found on marketplace doesn’t have the right hardware 😭

so: do I trust the frame of the kinetic trainer?

no, if I try to pedal more than 20mph, much less for a long time, I will almost certainly break it

HOWEVER I have an injured shoulder so can't do that right now anyway 😭

decided to hook my bike up to it to validate the resistance unit works, and it does! 🌈

it also comically connects to zwift 😂

@kf I really dig Rouvy, it is much more immersive than Zwift (which feels more like a video game to me).

My Rouvy gripe is that the avatar options are so limited vs Zwift. You can be SKINNY_WHITE_WOMAN or SKINNY_WHITE_MAN

@axoplasm I grew up in Houston near NASA and they used to have tapes for astronauts on the space station that were basically what rouvy is 😂
