Glad I was able to visit our National Gallery 2 weekends ago vs. having to contend with closure this time. One of the most encouraging things about the recent visit to DC was the size and enthusiasm of the crowds in museums and other cultural sites

Botanical displays involving model railroad sets & representations of major buildings & monuments are a thing at the holiday season in Washington DC National Botanic Garden (+ in New York, I am told), so these as well as the greenhouses drew a good crowd on a cold rainy day

Delighted to visit the National Museum of African American History & see such a large & attentive crowd. Spent a whole afternoon just in the 3 floors of core historical exhibits, had to be shooed out by the guards. Serious scholars can close down both a bar and a museum

We were equally impressed and gratified to see the long line of people waiting for admission to the Library of Congress and its exhibitions
