“don’t spank, don’t punish,” this has always been my insight and obsession, and I tried to raise a family that way. They let me know when the youngest reached minimum adulthood, that they thought I was some kind of lying monster about it and was secretly forcing all sorts of stuff on them (I guess the ex was), and I’m sure they have a complex story about my monsterism, but honestly, it really is me and has always been, and despite the complexity of their paranoid take, in the end they just look stupid, they can’t understand a simple statement like you shouldn’t force things on kids.
.
They have a really long winded, complicated argument, but in the end it means they can’t understand something that is not at all complex, that I’m passive. They apparently cannot grasp passive. That I don’t like force, this is impossible to understand so they imagine some psychodrama that sounds complicated and smart to explain how they can’t understand a short sentence. 💔
