TikTok has taken down their in app error message and is appearing to attempt to restart US service once their CDN endpoints begin serving traffic again.

TikTok announced that their service providers received sufficient assurances from the incoming administration that they won’t be prosecuted that they’re comfortable restarting traffic.

This is probably still a violation of the law but no one seems particularly concerned by that if there’s no consequences attached.

While TikTok has restored functionality for users who have downloaded the app already, app stores which would liable at a rate of $5k/download do not appear to be offering downloads or updates of any ByteDance apps.

@djcapelis they’re apparently working with Trump directly on it, and he said the U.S. government will have half ownership. TikTok’s CEO is all-in on it. It’s going to become state media.
