I have a bad a priori on IA like many people do, but the other day I used ChatGPT for the first time in my life: I had to write an apology letter in spanish to my boss after making a mistake that cost the company a couple of hundred dollars. I have to admit it did a very good job. I think that might be the most valid use for IA: as a sincerity emulator.

@ja_herre it has been tempting to explore myself - although I was even more deterred when I found out it uses a half-liter of water for every 100 words it generates.

Your sincerity is one of a kind! Don't outsource that, you full-on faking is still more sincere 😝

But per definition bosses don't deserve our sincerity, and yet we have to perform sincerity for them. I think that makes it a valid use case, the only one I can think of until now.

@ja_herre yeah, to be fair, I have never been expected to deliver a written apology for that kind of mistake at work. I certainly have seen some loss/waste on my watch, but it was handled as "the cost of doing business". At both small and large companies! 😵‍💫

You make a fair point. Also, those dynamics are busted and you deserve better 💐

Edit: I don't get to make a judgement like that because my perception and understanding of the situation is zero! Thanks for sharing your perspective, I learn.
