A fair assessment, but it neglects to mention that the point was the chaos. The social stratification and concentration of wealth is exactly the purpose of the neoliberal movement. Thatcher never had an experiment. That was just a lie to cover up her destruction of British society selling them body and soul to the robber barons. Similarly, Gaidar succeeded massively, because his true goal was to destroy the Russian economy and shatter the will of the Russian people so they'd all be enslaved to a small cadre of elite oligarchs
What these politicians are doing pretty much just amounts to mafia politics, cheating and bullying. The thing that has me mystified is why they are always winning, constantly, without exception, ever since Nixon at least, while things get worse and worse. What are they doing that all the bullies in history haven't done, that totally breaks us and makes their destruction of the planet a 100% certainty?
I saw a great video on it once, and of course my hard disk got wiped, and of course I didn't bookmark it, and of course search engines have buried it forever out of sight. All I remember is it ended with a ferret who was the "treasurer secretary" named Mr. Skittles I think. Also it had clips of that Doom mod which made Margaret Thatcher one of the demon bosses.

@cy @Nigel_Purchase Thatcher was completely confused. She intended to assist the lower middle class (the Roberts-type family) by removing what she considered labour union power. By adopting neoliberalism, she destroyed the lower middle class - against her intentions - as well as emaciating the power of labour.

She was highly effective and quite ruthless at destroying the lower middle class, and transferring labour union power into the upper echelons of corporate hierarchy. That was her intention. She just lied about assisting anyone. You think she accidentally dismantled one of the most cohesive societies on Earth and handed it to a few rich mobsters? The woman who coined the term "austerity?" The one who told us there is no society? Politicians lie it's like their job. What they do is what they intend, not what they say.
Unless you have her private diary where she said "Oopsie I conquered the British Isles?"

@cy
She intentionally destroyed the class of her own background? 'No such thing as society' is quite consistent with lower middle class values - individuals and families. Yes, she misunderstood that her 'shareholder democracy' would disappear. Of course, unlike you, I do not have access to her private diary ...

Yeah, just like Reagan was a hero of the unions, until he turned around and stabbed everyone in the back. I'll grant that Thatcher's extremely effective policy was an accident when any evidence shows up that it was. Until then I ain't giving any of them the benefit of the doubt.
