Following in the proud Chinese tradition, always respect your elders, unless your elders are doing something fucked up. Then, never respect your elders, unless your elders are also threatening people who don't respect them. Then, always respect your elders while they are watching.

Not that those commands will actually work, since no one has ever tried them, and I can't fix the problems that haven't yet happened. But in the extremely unlikely event that you do try them, please let me know. It'd be nice to know I'm not completely ignored, even if I'm too bad at programming for anyone to ever use my stuff. #depression

OK not saying I implemented word filters in my multi-client fediverse aggregator specifically for tomorrow, but yay it's working ish.

If only I had stopped taking it when I noticed something. If only I hadn't trusted my doctor. Such a minor thing, and I can't do it anymore when I need to do it, and it eats at you constantly for been years and years, it'll never get better again and nobody cares... #depressed

Ugh... just can't figure this out, and no one to talk about it with, as usual, as always, forever. #FuckMyLife

So... first, if headers arrive, it updates the database and forwards those headers to the proxy. But it can't forward those headers until it's sure the database has committed, so that second thing gets deferred. Once the download is done, after updating the database, it has to forward headers to the proxy whether or not they've come down from upstream, because to forward the payload first just comes over as unexpected garbage data. But it can't do that until it's sure the database has committed, so that headers/payload forwarding gets deferred.
So first I forward the headers except not really. Then I forward the payload, except I have to send the headers first, except not really. Then once the database commits, I forward the headers, the payload, and then I forward the headers.

Another silent block from someone I have no problem with, have never argued with, and generally agree with. An unfollow I could understand. These blocks are happening almost weekly though, without any attempt to warn people about me. Just... block then nothing. Is someone going after my allies in DMs, to get them to block me?
Please don't block someone without at least announcing it, so your friends can be warned about them, and the blocked one can know what they did wrong.

Was thinking Santa Claus doesn't have any problem with greed since he's like the opposite of greed. It's like how the Grim Reaper isn't evil since there's an afterlife and he's just there to take you to it. God I wish there was an afterlife, but instead there's just nothing. I don't get to do anything, then I get to do nothing, forever. What a joke. Why am I even alive? #depressed

SQLITE_BUSY is just maddening. If it is busy, what you're supposed to do is rollback the transaction and try it again. As in, the entire transaction. Repeating all the database commands, until the commit finally works. So I pull data for an image out of my database, then send the image headers to some remote client, then oops SQLITE_BUSY on commit, so I pull data for an image, then send the image headers again, and the remote client complains that there is garbage headers in the image.
So any attempt to deal with SQLITE_BUSY has to carefully isolate all side effects until after the transaction is successfully finished. Which is great, except that committing 25 transactions a second really grinds on my disk and slows shit down. So I'd like to leave the transaction open and commit it maybe, once a second at most.
So that means all requests to my server now have 1 second latency, because I can't send anything until I'm totally sure the database isn't going to be busy. #database #programming #FuckEverything

Well great. Waiting on a transaction to finish in thread A, while holding the transaction and waiting on a condition in thread B, and thread B is set to clear the transaction in 2 seconds, but conditions block the thread and can't be used in select() for "reasons," so that 2 second timeout will never occur. Ugh, this is a mess...

Such an interesting challenge to my latest story here. I can't tell anything in dialog, have to keep it purely introspection and description. I'm probably leaning way too heavily on introspection though, need to describe things more vividly. Still cool.

Dreamt about the end of the world last night, and he was gloating on the TV the whole time, that he was one of them all along, that we trusted him, even though I never did, that there was never was anything we could do about it. His class of wealthy elites would live a good life at the end of the world, while the rest of us, all of us, died. No reason for our deaths, we just couldn't stop them, so now they're killing us needlessly. No he wasn't the man you're thinking of. Now I get to sit here alone and helpless on 5 hours of sleep. Sorry for being a big downer but seriously #FuckMyLife I'm so sick of everyone out there living such good lives as they enact this plastic apocalypse, thinking themselves innocent. I need someone to be with 20 years ago. #lonely #depression #rant

It's crude, but I can already make use of it, to look at what actual people are saying, not just whatever death cult nonsense everyone is frantically boosting. It's a multi-client Fediverse post aggregator thingy, that gives everyone 3 posts at once, no more. I have it pulling a few timelines from different instances.
Can't promise this will work but: https://fedicy.us.to:6443/latest/
