I wish more stores had official quiet hours when they didn’t play background music, dimmed the lights just a little, etc.
There’s a store I otherwise really enjoy that always blares music uncomfortably loudly. I can only visit when I’m nowhere near the migraine cycle and even then I don’t linger there.
This seems like it would be bad for the workers’ hearing over the long term, too.

When the weather is nice, I can go to the park for peace and quiet.
When it’s cold and wet and there’s a polar vortex on the way, not so much. 😄
But I wish quiet, peaceful places were valued more in North America. Not everything needs to be loud.

@lydiaschoch That music all began with holiday music and then everyone decided it was essential. Some stores play it loud- one year I filed a formal complaint because I couldn't make out the screenreader when I was trying to label read- I couldn't even understand the person taking my complaint. When they wouldn't turn it down I left my items there and never returned. I hear a lot less now so some places may or may not be using music, but most it's still loud enough I know it's there sigh
