I’m looking for poetry and poet recommendations from the last decade if anyone has some. (Anything from this century is cool, too, if you know of something pre-2015).
I read a ton of nineteenth and twentieth century poetry as a kid and loved it.
I know almost nothing about the newer stuff.
You get bonus points if it’s humorous or about nature, but I’m happily open to other types as well so long as they’re not gory.

Zombie movies are such great distractions when you’re already experiencing negative emotions. Why not channel that energy into getting scared on purpose by something that can’t actually hurt you.
Now to think about more cheerful things so I hopefully do not dream about the undead tonight.

I prefer 28 Days Later to 28 Weeks Later due to some really silly choices characters made in the sequel, but the latter does have a cool twist in it that I hope this series will continue to play around with when 28 Years Later Comes out.
(And, to be fair, some people have made equally silly and deadly choices these past five years. 😄🤦🏻♀️)

My follow recommendation for today is @MeanwhileinCanada.
Whether you know a lot, a little, or nothing about Canadian culture, their jokes work on multiple levels.
I love this account’s sense of humour. It kindly pokes fun at everyone and everything….even if it’s a beaver, a Canada Goose, and, on occasion, our southern neighbours, too. 🦫 🪿

The Burrowers: Animals Underground - Baby Rabbits is a nature documentary I’m planning to watch later on today because I look forward to seeing kits doing cute lagomorph things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5g7x8SVgE8

Tomorrow I will be focusing on distracting topics and avoiding that thing so many of us are rightfully dreading.
I support whatever non-harmful coping mechanisms you will be using tomorrow and for the years to come.
It’s simply not healthy or sustainable for me to doomscroll more than occasionally.
So I will talk about animals, films, food, and other stuff instead.

When the weather is nice, I can go to the park for peace and quiet.
When it’s cold and wet and there’s a polar vortex on the way, not so much. 😄
But I wish quiet, peaceful places were valued more in North America. Not everything needs to be loud.

I wish more stores had official quiet hours when they didn’t play background music, dimmed the lights just a little, etc.
There’s a store I otherwise really enjoy that always blares music uncomfortably loudly. I can only visit when I’m nowhere near the migraine cycle and even then I don’t linger there.
This seems like it would be bad for the workers’ hearing over the long term, too.

It was cold and wet outside today. One gust of wind was enough to make me scurry away from the door.
