Rather than the cow pat that Apple AI is, I'd love some sort of ML model that could fix parts of dictated text that sound similar to what was intended but actually make no sense. A recent example would be dictation coming up with "on styled" (which was grammatically incorrect in the specific context) rather than "unstyled" which could've been inferred from the meaning of the overall sentence.

@jscholes I'd definitely like to see this too, but I worry Apple is already doing something along these lines and it’s causing dictation to overcorrect. My primary use case for dictation is inserting words I can't figure out how to spell, and it's pretty bad at doing that. I can't think of specific examples, but if I very clearly annunciate a word into a very good microphone, sometimes it still corrects the word to something more common that sounds similar, but not remotely the same as the word I was going for. Basically along the lines of your example here. It didn't used to do this, but it's gotten worse and worse over the years. It's basically the transcription equivalent of autocorrecting "thus" to "this".

@simon Exactly this. An example from my posts today was the word psyche, which dictation will not get right no matter how many times I try. But when I started typing it, it was correctly auto-completed... Oh there it goes again, with"also completed" instead of auto, and "Barrett" instead of "there it".

@jscholes Yeah, that's really terrible. I remember dictation started out pretty mediocre, but its issues were predictable. Then it got better, and there was this time when it just worked, unless you really mumbled into your phone. And now it's ... this. Personally, I think I'm going to modify my whisper shortcut to automatically start recording, and just bind that to a gesture.

@simon @jscholes I wonder if these issues are more prevalent on iPhones 15 and above.
