@scarlet I forget, is that the one which is the primary reason why payments to the US take so long it'd be faster to fly across the pond then hitchhike cross-country for half a week the rest of the way to whoever you want to pay?

@scarlet This has been one of the more jarring things about moving to the US – and there’s been some serious competition. The state of almost all banking over here, compared to what it’s like in the UK, is so bad that I don’t even need to peek behind the scenes to see it. I can’t imagine what it must look like when can you see all the messy details.

@flamingspork since I don't have a US account, I had to use wise. usually transfers to friends in europe are ≈free and instant providing there's no currency conversion involved so it's weird that I had to pay one here

@scarlet I once sent an ACH transfer to my own account with an old, defunct routing number. Despite the transfer taking literal days to process and would only be submitted to the ACH batch later that day, BofA couldn’t cancel it. IIRC it took over a week to bounce…
