Belarus has dug trenches across the Lithuanian border.
The preparations for attacking the Baltics are underway, even while the war in Ukraine is still going on.
[#]EU can’t be sleepwalking peace talk in wartime. Not any more. The next Russian attack will come, unless we beef up and project strength to stop it. Lithuania is a #NATO member.
History didn’t end for Europe, even though Francis Fukuyama said so. We must re-engage now.

@gimulnautti Trenches are defensive fortifications. These are fighting positions to defend Belarus from attacks coming out of Lithuania, not for Belarus to use to invade Lithuania.

@larthallor Yes, but.
Trenches are as good to protect military assets across the border from retaliatiory strikes after the first move has been made. Also, they keep units during a military build-up safer.
Modern warfare is fought from great distances, and the Baltics have already stated they will strike at positions inside Russia if they launch rockets or missiles from there.
This is also repeating what preceded Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Not to be downplayed.
