TikTok is never going to sell. Not now, not in 90 days. Why would it?

@robotdeathsquad not saying I arrive of the situation.
But presuming they make a shit ton of ad revenue, a deal whereby they sell the users and license the platform and the trademark for a fixed term would be a pretty reasonable business move. My guess is they never took this seriously (for what, five years?) and can’t do that because they never set the system up to be able to handle that a split.

@relistan that is rational reaction if it was a startup and the founders need an exit. It’s not a startup, they don’t need an exit, and the US is only like 17% percent of their eye balls (if I remember correctly).
What TikTok actually is, just like all corporate social media at this point, is a massive weapon for global realpolitik and the Chinese government would never trade that for a payout. The reason it’s right to ban it is the same reason they’ll never sell it.

@robotdeathsquad not sure I agree. But there no reason a deal can’t be done that is US-only. I suspect something will happen.
