@owls honestly any "this fundamental thing about php that has been true since it was called personal home page" statement is always gonna be a great nerdsnipe.
my old parlour trick used to be
function __clone() {
clone($this);
}
}
$foo = new Foo;
clone($foo);
which would always Segmentation fault. The punchline? The massive thread on bugs.php.net where the developers insisted this was expected behaviour ("infinite recursion segfaults!").
This was only semi-recently fixed.
Man I feel old.
