A fair bit of my day job is explaining to fellow millennials and younger folks that storage in computers used to be extremely expensive and that's the root cause of the arbitrary limit or naming convention that they are now banging their head against.

Then I get to explain technical debt, usually by sharing the Richard Scarry dictionary meme.

(Edited to add: working specifically with hydrologic models, thus this hits especially hard)
