Remember flat-face? One of my resident pond turtles with the unusual shell? Well, it’s a she-turt, and she’s digging out an egg nest! I’ll post video if the camera I set up doesn’t run out of battery 😅

She is at least 10 years old, it takes them that long to reach reproductive age.
They will also sometimes dig a couple of decoy nests near the real one and leave only one or two eggs in it, hoping that the predator will think they’ve gotten everything in the decoy and leaving the real nest alone.

This nest should hatch in about 90 days, but I’m also kinda scratching my head because these friendos don’t usually start nesting until it gets a bit warmer, so… time will tell.
