”If we are losing to a buffoon, whose campaign was a flailing disaster, we are doing something very wrong”
Vlad Vexler offers very good #critique on how #liberalism went too far in bed with the market, and hence had to wear a mask of hyper identity politics to still pretend that it cares, while not actually doing enough to alleviate suffering in groups that were not in it’s focus.
Hyper identity politics is not left-wing or far left. It’s a failure of liberalism alone.

Unfortunately until we realise that from a left-wing politics angle, hyper identity politics is pretty much a corporate veneer to avoid actually doing redistribution of wealth, we’re going to keep losing.
The far right can’t tell apart left politics and liberal politics gone too far. Unless we start being able to make that difference ourselves, we’re going to continue being powerless to defang the anti-woke brigade.

I am finished with this type of conclusions where if only if the good guys said just the right thing they would convince the stupid people to not be stupid.
The right wing nazi types keep winning because stupid people believe in their make believe and keep supporting them.

@misomunje You definitely are not getting it. Sorry..
There is a point of intellectual recognition we have failed to reach. And this is precisely about becoming blind to our own success so your reaction doesn’t surprise me at all.
Nazis need to be punched. This is not about that. Something very different. Something that went wrong 50 years ago, when ”the new left” formed in USA, and needed to appear helping but didn’t want to touch corporate wealth.

I can't speak to the mistakes made 50 years ago.
However, today, there is nothing you can say that can convince someone who is deluded and believes in make believe to change their mind.
IMO, this blaming and proposing prescriptions to the people who didn't fall for the make believe is a waste of time.
To get anywhere, the people who fell for the con have to fix themselves or be placed in circumstances where a small number of them make better decisions.

@misomunje If you are saying there is nothing I can say that will convince you, how is that liberal?
Listen to yourself. You are explaining away my agency and erasing even the hope of being able to reach consensus or compromise.
What is the future in something like that? Only a future of dictation and submission. That is not liberalism.
