Here’s a thought: Different fediverse platforms are interoperable. For example, you can view mastodon accounts on Pixelfed and vice versa.

Which leads me to wonder why not have one fedi server that can post different types of content. Eg text/image/vertical video.

And then in the fedi client you can choose what type of content you want to see. Or what viewer mode you want to use?

That way you can follow a person once. And not have to follow their masto, Pixelfed, loops, wordpress(lol) etc.

@mattgrayyes this is genuinely how I thought fedi worked when I first read about it!

I appreciate there are some huge considerations for this e.g. relying on platforms implementing AP properly and which platforms to support, but I would still love to see this happen in the long term.
