I am looking for recommendations of which #pixelfed server to join. I am a writer so I guess most I will be doing is lurking, see at what other writers and reviewers share and liking cat pictures. I do have cat pictures of my own which I might share as well... And probably gush about my characters because: How can I not?

@strangeseawolf You don't need a pixelfed account to see what pixelfed users are posting. This is the fediverse, it's all connected. You can follow pixelfed users from other fediverse servers, such as mastodon, friendica, gotosocial etc... Getting an account on a pixelfed server is mostly useful if you intend to post lots of pictures and would like the additional features for posting images that pixelfed offers.

@gmc Oh, that's good to know. Perhaps I make an account just to see how it all works. I had done some small videos for my book over at instagram but I am not sure if I really want to do that again, anyway. It was more because that was what everybody else did.
