My mother passed away peacefully Tuesday morning after a brief illness. Dementia had been slowly claiming her bit by bit for several years, but she never seemed to lose her energy and pleasant demeanor.
On Sunday night, after a call from the facility, a voice in my head told me I should go and visit, despite the inconvenience. I'm glad I listened, and got to sit with her one last time.
May the Universe reward her with happiness and peace.

Back in 2018, my partner and I took mom on a trip to Portmeirion, Wales. Her dementia was a significant inconvenience, but there was enough of her left that she still had her sense of humor, and could appreciate the sights, including Harlech Castle just a few miles south.
Mom, an avid musician, was also delighted with the Penkhull Village Brass band, who were performing in Portmeirion during our visit.
