Perhaps Mastodon is too efficient and thus not expensive enough to run. No big money needed (though a little helps of course).

The hype on #freeourfeed is so strange. I really like the text title : "US$ 30 million to reinvent the wheel". It summarizes it all.

@alshafei Yup. But the difference is AT Protocol instances take millions to run.

Fediverse instances are too cheap.

Millions are newsworthy. That’s how people who don’t understand tech judge value.
