I just saw a video of an artist responding to a fan who asked if they should stream their music on Tidal rather than on Spotify. The artist's answer: If they got all their Spotify streams on Tidal, they would earn around 4'500 $ instead of 800 $. With Apple Music, it'd still be around 2'400 $.

The numbers vary a bit, but looking up payout rates, this seems to be the right ballpark. I didn't find a handy table, so take the attached AI summary with a grain of salt.

There are almost no network effects on Spotify, but they're the biggest player, so artists can't afford not to be there. But if you care about their revenue – or even just sticking it to a de-facto monopolist –, consider switching your app. It's just a small inconvenience, but others will benefit from it. :)
