This morning I'm attempting to Zumba after getting slightly merry on cocktails last night. 🥱

And my first thought on that fact was "wow! I've turned into a kinda basic woman!"

But I'd rather be a basic woman than an acidic "man". 🍋

I used to be so sneering of "normie" culture, both masculine and feminine coded. But now... shoe shopping followed by a pumpkin spice latte sounds pretty great, actually.

How much of my pride in being special and different was just sour grapes that I felt threatened by masculine cultural touchstones and unable to access feminine ones?

Not of course that this is all I am or all I want to be. It was always a false dichotomy. "Basicness" doesn't threaten my identity. Everyone's interesting in their own way.
