Lovely story on the socials today about one of the Spine Race runners coming across a lost dog at Auchope, high in the Cheviots. She took time to make a lead and bring it to the nearest safety team who worked to track down the owner. The runner got a time credit and it's an all-round lovely story..

..except it's blatantly one of the fox hounds from the College Valley hunt. No-one cares about that dog, he would have been better off kept by the Safety Team after all.

I mean I'm probably wrong, but there's a few people commenting on the facebook about it who came to the same conclusion

Here's a post from Chris Packham on bsky as part of his campaign against foxhunting, showing footage of how a typical hunt treats their hounds

@sarahdalgulls Not related to a discussion about rescuing a dog so it can kill foxes, but there's a Longfram chap in the race, Richard Garland (152) who I'm following, he's on Windy Gyll at the moment.

@JohnDal oh cool! I've been enjoying following it, it makes me keen to get back out for some long walks (but not running)

@sarahdalgulls Fom UK Climbing "And then there's the bus/ taxi and train journey home for most, carrying bags full of filthy wet kit and, if my small sample size of friends who've done this is normal, a couple of months of repeated chest infections to shake off. It's a mind-boggling achievement."

@sarahdalgulls I missed the local bloke finishing, but so did the media and his wife. He ran the fastest time ever from the hut on Cheviot to the finish.
